Halp! ~Rec me.
I need help. The thing is, finally, finally I got my Apple TV working. :D This means I have Netflix, and I'm not sure how excited I should be about this because the few things I looked for, they're not there.

I went looking for World War Z, I looked for Queer As Folk, I looked for Weekend, and nothing.

Meh.

I did see they have The Walking Dead, which is promising. I do like zombies.

So far I've watched stuff I had already seen:

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol
Like Water For Chocolate
And the first half of Harry Potter & Prisoner of Azkaban
Oh, and Dawn of the Dead (but we're not talking about that. >.>)

I also saw this cooking show with a Simon Hopkingson fellow, amazingly enough, this I watched while at my sickest, but I find watching cooking programmes very relaxing.

What I'm asking for is recs. What should I be watching? Is there anything good? Scary stuff? Funny? Anything?

Come on, it's Rectober! This totally will count for reccing. ^^

Ps. Um. Something's wrong with my layout. O.o It's fine until Birds' birthday post and then it's all wonky. Are you having the same problem? :/ Curse you, lj!!!!

I have no TV suggestions.

I skipped back 20 and those posts are also OK again, not overly wide. I'd edit that first one after the birthday post and just look and see if there is some loose coding floating around in it. See if that's what's breaking the layout.
capitu[personal profile] capitu on October 20th, 2014 09:17 pm (UTC)
:) It was the lj spoiler tag on Bird's birthday without closing, me thinks. At least I edited that and it got fixed. So odd though, that only weeks later it messed up with the layout.

But yes, thank you, it was a manner of checking the previous posts. <3

Orange is the New Black. It's amazing.

There are others, I'm sure, but that one is a must, IMO.
capitu[personal profile] capitu on October 20th, 2014 09:25 pm (UTC)
Oohh, I've heard good things of that. I will check it out, thank you, Trys!

I hadn't thought of that! Good one. :D
[identity profile] dysonrules.livejournal.com on October 20th, 2014 09:12 pm (UTC)
THE BLACKLIST!!! Seriously.

I watched Orange is the New Black over the summer, so I know it's on Netflix. Um, Firefly, of course. Leverage.
capitu[personal profile] capitu on October 20th, 2014 09:26 pm (UTC)
It's there?? XD I must! *nods* And the others, too. I don't think I've heard of Leverage, will see to that, too. <33
[identity profile] dysonrules.livejournal.com on October 20th, 2014 10:39 pm (UTC)
Leverage wasn't on very long but I shipped SO MANY OF THEM. :3

capitu[personal profile] capitu on October 21st, 2014 12:37 pm (UTC)
There's no Blacklist on my Netflix!!!!!!

cry cry cry

I'm thinking there are some country-related restrictions.

SUUUUUCKs.

YES! OMG, for sure. I second this rec. :)
capitu[personal profile] capitu on October 20th, 2014 09:40 pm (UTC)
Well! I hope it's there. :D:D
[identity profile] alisanne.livejournal.com on October 20th, 2014 09:42 pm (UTC)
Ooh, I wonder if they have Dr Who?
If they do, start with Eggleston's run and watch it. :)
Oh, and Torchwood, too, if they have that.
capitu[personal profile] capitu on October 20th, 2014 09:51 pm (UTC)
There is Dr Who! Of that I'm sure because I almost started watching it the other night. I certainly check it out. Eggleston, got it! <3
[identity profile] josephinestone.livejournal.com on October 20th, 2014 09:17 pm (UTC)
I don't have AppleTv, but on Hulu I just watch Masterchef Jr and it was really good. Then I tried to watch season five of the adult season and their dishes didn't wow me as much as the kids did. So, I'd recommend watching the kids, because they did amazing. Though of course with kids it kept making me cry as they still had to be sent home.
capitu[personal profile] capitu on October 20th, 2014 09:27 pm (UTC)
I don't have Masterchef on AppleTV, was one of the first things I checked. :( They used to air it on this channel, TLC, but I don't have that channel no more. :(( I loved that show.
[identity profile] lq-traintracks.livejournal.com on October 20th, 2014 09:31 pm (UTC)
Huh. Both QaF and World War Z are available for streaming on our Netflix. Wonder what's up with that!

I don't know your tastes, but for funny, have you ever seen a movie called 'Happy, Texas'? No matter how many times I watch it, I LMFAO.

Show-wise, we watch a LOT of Lost and House, and those are both on there, so that's nice. I love Lost. I'm a big Lost fan. So...Lost. \o/

I watched the first season of Orange is the New Black, which is a Netflix show, so you can't see it anywhere else. It's about a women's prison and has a lot of bisexuality and lesbianism and women of color and different ethnicities. (YAY!) But they use the r-word (retarded) pretty frequently, and while that's realistic, it's pretty triggery for me. It also gets pretty violent here and there. And I haven't watched the second season at all, so I can't at all vouch for that. But the characters on that show are AMAZING!!!! And the actresses aren't your run-of-the-mill Hollywood, plastic surgery, perfection machines. They're real. And I love that. <3

I'll leave you with that. :-D Good luck!!!
capitu[personal profile] capitu on October 20th, 2014 09:40 pm (UTC)
Really! I'm thinking, yeah, maybe there are some country-related restrictions because I checked some stuff that I remembered people talking about here and there and didn't find them. :(

Even on line, there are a lot of sites with videos up that when I try to watch and they go "this material is not available at your country of viewing" or some rot, so it's entirely possible that's what happening with many films and tv shows, which sucks because, omg, QaF & World War Z, was dying to see. :/ Right now, I remember checking the series and I don't remember seeing The Blacklist included. But I'm not 100% about that.

Will check for Happy, Texas. I think I might have seen that, but not having a rec ;) I had no idea if it was good. I hope it was the Something Texas I'm remembering.

Big fan of Lost and House, in fact, those are some of the fews DVDs of series I own. :)

<3333 Totally get it about Orange is the New Black. *hugs*

Lost! Firefly! Twin peaks! Alias! Buffy!

LOL, I did some major TV show binge watching on Netflix in college...
capitu[personal profile] capitu on October 20th, 2014 10:01 pm (UTC)
Twin peaks, I think several someones were going on about it on my flist not too long ago. :D

I'm only discovering and there's so much it's hard to know where to begin, you know? ^^

Now I know more where!

Korean Drama! You must watch "You're Beautiful" a fun, light, romantic gender-bending story about a girl in a boy band.
capitu[personal profile] capitu on October 20th, 2014 10:19 pm (UTC)
Oh! I'm going to check for that. I think I might have seen it listed. Thank you!

The Walking Dead is worth watching just for Norman Reedus.

Just saying.
capitu[personal profile] capitu on October 20th, 2014 10:20 pm (UTC)
LOL

I KNOW!!!

I love that show. I actually made an attempt to watch it but Fox (for Latin America) kept jumping the show from this channel to that channel to different days and hours so I kind of lost it.
[identity profile] emansil-12.livejournal.com on October 21st, 2014 02:43 am (UTC)
Generation Kill, Generation Kill!!!, Due South, White Collar, Torchwood. Those are ones that are really good and fairly common and have their own fairly massive fandom.

capitu[personal profile] capitu on October 21st, 2014 12:38 pm (UTC)
I might have seen Generation Kill. I saw Generation ~something. Me thinks.

White Collar! I have to check that!!! I can't believe I hadn't thought of that before! Thank you! For all the recs. <333
[identity profile] emansil-12.livejournal.com on October 22nd, 2014 02:08 am (UTC)
Generation Kill was set in Iraq in the beginning of the 2nd Iraq war, with a whole bunch of gorgeous marines. was that what you watched.

Great time to catch up on White Collar as this is going to be its last year.

capitu[personal profile] capitu on October 22nd, 2014 11:42 am (UTC)
I think it was, yes. :) I didn't have power last night so I couldn't check for sure, but tonight, sooo doing that. Same with White Collar. I was shocked to learn this was the final season. I have to catch up. ^^

Doctor Who \o/ (have I mentioned that I'm obsessed with DW lately :P) I just got Netflix recently too, so I haven't been watching much stuff. I've watched a couple of episodes of Teen Wolf since so many people seem to be into it, but I have to admit I'm not totally taken with it yet. I'll still give it a chance. It seems like it varies which shows are available in which area, though. I wanted to check out Merlin, and I saw someone mention it was on Netflix, but it's not on Netflix here :( I was hooked on Arrested Development a few years ago, but the humour there is a bit hit or miss. Either people absolutely love it or they think it's weird and boring. Let me know if you find something awesome:D
capitu[personal profile] capitu on October 21st, 2014 12:41 pm (UTC)
I think there is a version of Merlin here, but I don't think it's the one my flist follows. And yeah, there are definitely area related restrictions because a lot of stuff people mentioned here I don't have them. But I do know there's Doctor Who, though I haven't checked to see how many seasons or anything. Or are these counted in "doctors" I have no idea! lol

I started watching The Walking Dead last night after checking several recs and not finding them. :( So sad.
[identity profile] anemonen.livejournal.com on October 21st, 2014 01:05 pm (UTC)
Haha, no they're regular seasons. I'm guessing your netflix has the same as mine: the 7 new seasons with three different doctors.
I didn't like The Walking Dead, but then I'm not too find of zombies either. They freak me out. I never have nightmares usually, but zombies give me them for some reason. When I watched Walking Dead, I dreamed there were zombies coming out of my kitchen cupboards and I had to keep them shut by putting sticks through the handles :P
capitu[personal profile] capitu on October 21st, 2014 01:58 pm (UTC)
Ahhh.

Zombies are my favourite monsters, oddly enough because it usually involves a lot of gore, which usually I don't like -- like, scary movies with a lot of gore, not my thing, but zombies, oh yeah.

**hugs you** Your dream! I'm mostly scared of random things, like, something holding me back from the dark, or mirrors (mirror are creepy). ^^
[identity profile] celestlyn.livejournal.com on October 21st, 2014 09:12 pm (UTC)
Oh wow! So much fun!! I watch a bunch of stand-up comedy when I'm in bed and can't sleep. If you have Netflix you can get a free app on any of your devices and watch Netflix anywhere you can get a wifi signal. Here's a few of the things I watched on Netflix:

Queer as Folk (No clue why you can't get it, but most of the episodes are on youtube)
Orange is the New Black
The Blacklist
White Collar
Arrow (Awesome show.)
The Walking Dead (can't forget that)

I catch all sorts of shows on there from cooking and travel shows and lots of other documentaries. You just have to browse the thousands of things offered.

Oh, I'm watching 'Craig's List Joe' right now. Interesting documentary.

I am so checking that app! Not that I watch an awful lot of tv (or videos) on my stuff, but I can see how that's going to be super handy in long trips. :)

Such a sad thing about QaF. I was so looking forward to that. ^^ I am going to check where else is available though. Thanks for the tip.

I checked for The Blacklist, another I don't have, but I do have Orange is the New Black, The Walking Dead (which I started watching), and tonight I'll check for Arrow and White Collar. God, I can't believe I forgot about White Collar! I've been meaning to watch it for years.

Thank you!! <333

Try QaF from one of these sites:

Yay! However, keep in mind that streaming these things is a bit of a gray zone. I don't download for any reason, but I do stream.

Also, you are NOT allowed to abandon h/d when you fall in love with Brian and Justin and want to go play in that fandom, like my buddy fray. And you can't get so wrapped up in QaF that you forget to keep rec'ing! Make the unbreakable vow!

capitu: I <3 Harry/Draco[personal profile] capitu on October 23rd, 2014 07:30 pm (UTC)
I'll keep that in mind.

And don't worry. I don't think that would ever happen! My heart is all H/D. But yes, I remember telling Fray the exact same thing and she replying me the exact same thing I just said. Man, I'm half excited half afraid. XD
[identity profile] tjs-whatnot.livejournal.com on October 22nd, 2014 03:38 am (UTC)
Ahhh, everyone already recced my suggestions. But still, I'll second/third/fourth:

Doctor Who ♥♥ I started with the 11th Doctor (starts on season/series 5) and haven't regretted it. But I might go back and check out a few before him.

White Collar: DUH! I think they have all current seasons up now and the last season starts next month, so this will be a great time to catch up and get obsessed with me. ♥♥

Orange is the New Black: That will be there no matter where you live as it's THEIR show. I haven't watched the second season, but I was blown away by the first.

A few more that might not be your thing as they're sort of really super America centric, but they're about politics and I know that makes you giddy. ;) West Wing and House of Cards (another Netflix exclusive show).

I could go on...

♥♥
capitu: capitu/tjwritter OTP 4EVER[personal profile] capitu on October 22nd, 2014 11:41 am (UTC)
Can you believe I didn't check FIRST THING for White Collar? I'm actually ashamed of that one because I feel like I must watch it if only to fangirl with you and get it. LOL I did love the couple of episodes I've seen, so I am checking that prontisimo! Same with Dr Who. So helpful about the season. I'll know where to start! <3

I've heard of West Wing, not sure about House of Cards, but I'll check if I have them. There are several that aren't available for Latin American (or maybe it's just my country.).

*glomp* Thank you, love.
[identity profile] celestlyn.livejournal.com on October 23rd, 2014 05:15 pm (UTC)
I will second West Wing. It is hands-down the best tv series I've ever seen. Nothing short of perfection.

Ohhh. I'm checking this one tonight. So highly recced! Thank you, you're wonderful. <3333
