HP Fun facts, or wishes?
Are all these true?

I know some of these are true. I read them on one of the interviews JKR gave shortly after the DH release, but a couple of these are new to me and I'm wondering… really? Do you know them to be true?

Um. That makes sense but I'm not sure if she said it. Did she??

I know the second one here is true, and she implied the first one.

I also know both of these to be true.

Yep, both true.

Really? Omg, poor George!

I have heard the second one here, but I'm not sure if she said it or if it's one of those things that someone who is very close to someone heard someone else saying that JKR said it. O.o

I can believe the first one, but I'm not sure about the second one. It seems like one of those things we wish would happen but also far-fetched.

Both true. And don't you love that second one? :D

What other fandom fun facts do you know? These were the only ones on this page (which I didn't bookmark :(). Is there a site devoted to fun facts like this? That's be awesome. As it would be a list of fandom wishes. :)

Even Dumbledore wears glasses, so I'd guess if you could fix it magically, he would have done so.

Yeah, several characters wear glasses.

Is it a fact that you can fix your eyesight with a spell? Or was that fandom made up? Now I'm wondering... I suppose logic says it depends on the problem. Still, I'm so buying the whole 'vulnerable' thing. :D

I think people correct Harry's eye-sight because they think he's hotter without glasses. I don't believe there are any vision correcting spells in canon. So I think it's fanon/made-up.

I love what JKR said about Harry's glasses symbolising his vulnerability. :D

*nods nods* But I've seen fics corrected Harry's eye-sight because glasses can be problematic/weakness in battle (ex: if a spell shatters your glasses while they are on your face or simply loosing them and being unable to see).

But I totally agree that it's not a canon spell.

I've never seen that! It's an interesting idea, though. I think I'd just make the glass unbreakable instead, because I like the glasses. :D

I like the glasses too, and that was my first thought, that they can be problematic in battle, etc. But I guess I find glasses sexy, so I never thought they were to make Harry hotter lol. :P

I like the glasses, too. I feel a bit O_o when people have Harry without. They do seem part of his charm - I suppose they are a physical reminder of his ordinariness, his imperfections?
capitu[personal profile] capitu on May 18th, 2013 12:42 pm (UTC)
Yeah, Harry's glasses are part of his character. Even when they get in the way in the books (Quidditch!) or are dirty. I can't quite picture my Harry glassesless. *nods*

Yeah like Mel said, I think people fix is to make him "hotter". Which I don't mind sometimes :P *hides from Mel*

I've seen "Hermione signs Harry up for lasik surgery" which always made more sense to me than a spell or potion.

Though... Dumbledore is hard to make assumptions based on... Hard to say he didn't keep the glasses as a choice. *devil's advocate*

Oh My God. I find that HILARIOUS! LOL! She sigs him up for Lasik???? REALLY?!?!?! LOLOL

Why is that sooo funny? XD
eidheann_writes[personal profile] eidheann_writes on May 17th, 2013 06:17 pm (UTC)
Because it is an easy explanation that is so logical but Muggle, only Hermione would think of it? ;)
capitu[personal profile] capitu on May 17th, 2013 09:16 pm (UTC)
I read a few fics where Harry is wearing contacts. :D
[identity profile] amorette.livejournal.com on May 17th, 2013 06:17 pm (UTC)
I do like the idea of him keeping them out of coice, tbh. In my headcanon, Wizards have a way of fixin eyesight, although it is a painful and expensve process much like in RL, and some poeple do choose to simply keep their glasses like some muggles do. I mean, why not? Some people might like them, or not have the means to do surgery.

When I imagine Harry in my headcanon, I imagine he got contacts, so he goes with glasses sometimes and with contacts other times.

*nodsnods* Dumbledore is an odd bird. lol No trying to put him as a proper example of... well, logic or anything. LOL
