HP Fun facts, or wishes?
Are all these true?

I know some of these are true. I read them on one of the interviews JKR gave shortly after the DH release, but a couple of these are new to me and I'm wondering… really? Do you know them to be true?

 photo Harry-Potter-fun-facts01_zps82b5d00f.jpg
Um. That makes sense but I'm not sure if she said it. Did she??

 photo Harry-Potter-fun-facts02_zps949f61ef.jpg
I know the second one here is true, and she implied the first one.

 photo Harry-Potter-fun-facts03_zpse550e5e7.jpg
I also know both of these to be true.

 photo Harry-Potter-fun-facts04_zps5bdabfce.jpg
Yep, both true.

 photo Harry-Potter-fun-facts05_zps04df159b.jpg
Really? Omg, poor George!

 photo Harry-Potter-fun-facts06_zps7d603883.jpg
I have heard the second one here, but I'm not sure if she said it or if it's one of those things that someone who is very close to someone heard someone else saying that JKR said it. O.o

 photo Harry-Potter-fun-facts07_zps603f8168.jpg
I can believe the first one, but I'm not sure about the second one. It seems like one of those things we wish would happen but also far-fetched.

 photo Harry-Potter-fun-facts08_zps16624e25.jpg
Both true. And don't you love that second one? :D

What other fandom fun facts do you know? These were the only ones on this page (which I didn't bookmark :(). Is there a site devoted to fun facts like this? That's be awesome. As it would be a list of fandom wishes. :)

It's true she planned killing Arthur (Nagini's attack), but she didn't swap him for Sirius. Sirius was meant to die anyway.
capitu[personal profile] capitu on May 17th, 2013 02:52 pm (UTC)
I think that one is wrong. I think it means she changed it for Remus, not Sirius. *nods*
[identity profile] roelliej.livejournal.com on May 17th, 2013 02:57 pm (UTC)
True. She wanted to keep Remus and Tonks alive, but killed them off in favour of Arthur. She didn't want to kill off a loving father, something she never knew in her life.

I don't think Snape hates Neville because of Lily. The guy hates every student except for Slytherin.
capitu[personal profile] capitu on May 17th, 2013 03:00 pm (UTC)
This is true, but he was particularly vicius to poor Neville.

Small comforts:

snape!boggart
[identity profile] roelliej.livejournal.com on May 17th, 2013 03:18 pm (UTC)
That was because he was horrible at Potions. It was Snape's fault of course, but he didn't care.

I think the "auror without newts" was just offered to harry/ron/hermione/neville for leadership in DA
capitu[personal profile] capitu on May 17th, 2013 03:09 pm (UTC)
That one was news to me, so I have no idea. I found it hard to believe because, well, underage wizards with no formal training, you know? But why am I arguing? :) They deserve it.

These are all interesting and cool facts. I like the last one :)

I also remember Rowling saying that the reason Harry wears glasses is to represent his vulnerability. I always thought it was weird that he didn't use magic to fix his eyesight.
[identity profile] roelliej.livejournal.com on May 17th, 2013 03:19 pm (UTC)
Good point. My opinion is that even magic has its limits.

That last one is all kinds of awesome.

That makes sense about the glasses. I love so much all the symbology through the books, little things like that. ♥
[identity profile] amorette.livejournal.com on May 17th, 2013 05:26 pm (UTC)
oooo that's so sweet. I do findhim very endearingwith his glasses <3
birdsofshore[personal profile] birdsofshore on May 17th, 2013 07:02 pm (UTC)
I will maybe sound like an idiot here, but I always assumed JKR gave Harry glasses because she was trying to do a kind of positive ad campaign (can't think of the right words) for children who commonly get bullied / teased. So, Harry has glasses, and the Weasleys all have red hair.

My son's optician said that since Harry Potter, they get a fair few children with good eyesight coming in and trying to fail their eye test, so they can have glasses "like Harry" :DDD

THIS IS AMAZING AND AWESOME! THANK YOU! :D

#1 - Omg,that's fascinating. Wow. I always imagined Snape hated Neville because Neville reminded him of himself, the loser or nerd of teh class, and Snape subconsciously loathes himself that much that he want to punish Neville/himself. And Snape is a douchebag, so he woul obviously pick on the weakest person in class (well, he also picks on Harry, the "strongest" person in class in terms of headstrong, so maybe that previous argument of mine is null). But this fun act brings things into a new, interesting light that is certainly fun to ponder. Are these "true" facts? Like JKR-confirmed? And if so, how would Snape know so much about the prophcy way back in First Year? They didn't even think Voldemort would return until 4th year when Snae felt his scar hurting.

Voldemort can not love because - WOW! BLOWS MY MIND! I LOVE THIS EXPLANATION! Of course, I do also like the idea that he was just born that way randomly, a sociopath like so many other sociopaths out there.

Snape is the only death eater to produce a patronus - Omg that's so epically romantic ad tragic nd sad Aurors without NEWTS - THATS NO FUN! Because I have a story idea planned around Harry and Ron trying to get thir damned NEWTs, So this defeats my plot's believability lol. Whatever. I choose to ignore this fun fact :P

[identity profile] amorette.livejournal.com on May 17th, 2013 05:21 pm (UTC)
Did it cut off my comment? Dammit, Livejournal! Here is the rest... :D

OMFG I wish Arthur Waeasley fucking died instead of Sirius OMG! But like okay, in canon, it makes more sense for Sirius to die... even if it breaks my fangirlheart XD

Aurors without NEWTS - THATS NO FUN! Because I have a story idea planned around Harry and Ron trying to get thir damned NEWTs, So this defeats my plot's believability lol. Whatever. I choose to ignore this fun fact :P

1. Well, remember Dumbledore said that to Harry, but Dumbledore might have known this all along, and probably have many conversations about it with Snape after Lily and James' death, much earlier than first year.

Voldemort not being able to love, I do remember she implied that, it was part of the circumstances surrounding his phycology, you know? It's really quite incredible, also that his mother didn't fight to live, not even more him. :/

Snape and his Patronus IS true! Man, I have to find that interview to link you because it's really awesome. That scene from the movies/books, with the "After all this time," and the "Always." completely validated by him being the only Death Eater with a patronus.

Great post! Some of these I wish weren't true though :(

Yeah like Sirius dying D:

HORRIBLE!!! *cries fangirl tears*

Yeah, the one about George makes me heart ache. *sniffs*

Dumbledore & Harry both possessing 3 Hollows = both Masters of Death.

Makes Kings Cross make much more logical sense.

(Unless cloak doesn't count for D because he didn't own...)
capitu[personal profile] capitu on May 17th, 2013 09:36 pm (UTC)
Oohh. You're right! Kings Cross. MAN! :D

It counts on my book, about the cloak. Possession, not ownership. ^_^
[identity profile] omi-ohmy.livejournal.com on May 17th, 2013 08:17 pm (UTC)
I want to write more of George now. Poor George. :(

I am always fascinated by the idea of George and Ron's relationship after Ron quits the Aurors. I imagine it as gentle amd warm, but sad too. Because Ron loves his brother, but he will never be Fred.

On a completely different note, one thing I liked that JKR said in an interview was that whenever she wanted to convey a truth to the reader, she made Dumbledore or Hermione say it. I may be paraphrasing horribly here.
capitu[personal profile] capitu on May 17th, 2013 09:34 pm (UTC)
It broke my heart when I read about George. :'( Can you imagine? Not having a happy enough thought, always incomplete for the rest of your life? Feeling to be missing something, your other half. I can't imagine.

A story about that would be beautiful. There'd be much sadness and hopefulness to explore. You should.

Hermione and Dumbledore were great sources of information all through the books. At times, especially about the eyesight thing I was thinking, "Hermione could tell us." :)
[identity profile] lordes.livejournal.com on May 19th, 2013 10:41 am (UTC)
I saw these before, but it was still very fun to read them all at once! I loved the Voldemort one, and I, even though it's logical, didn't like the fact that Harry lost his ability to speak Parsletongue much. Bah. I loved that about him and I'm such a sucker for parselsmut :P
capitu[personal profile] capitu on May 19th, 2013 01:55 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I'm was never crazy over that fact. I would have liked if Harry could still speak Parsletongue. I don't know why! lol I'm not very much into Parselsmut. Hmm, maybe I haven't read it enough. :D
