I've been wanting to claim my half [livejournal.com profile] hd_collab for days and days, but it's been a bit busy lately. :D

Or, did I miss my window? Is it too late to start ranting about it? I hope not because, OMG, I wrote something! :D And I'm so excited and I want to talk and talk about it. ^^

So yes, I wrote something with [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore. She literally talked me into it. :D I made a comment about how I was sort of feeling left out because everybody was talking about Collab, and she mailed me and told me we could totally do something.

At first I thought she meant she would write and I'd be like ~the mind behind a story~. Basically I pictured myself telling Birds what to write. So I told her something like, "oh, Birds, I can't make you write stuff I want," but in my head I had like 10 ideas already. And she was, "I'm not going write stuff you want. We'll both write!" And she made me think I could.

The idea of the whole Draco vs. Toaster was hers, too. It started when we decided to go with Muggle Studies as our subject. And she made this crazy comment on the confirmation email of *Draco sticks his wand in a toaster* And not five minutes later she mails me with a mad idea, which of course I loved. And that's how it started.

She was so encouraging. I'm not just saying that. We'd send each other our parts and she would laugh at mine and give me suggestions and tell me how much she loved them and more often than not she'd end with, "but you know what would be better? MORE. I want more Toaster!"

And at the other side I was ciggy in mouth with a cup of coffee at my elbow, typing away or scratching the back of my neck thinking what a Toaster would think and do. I imagined a whole dynamic in Harry's kitchen with the Stove as the ~boss~, the Fridge second-in-command and madly in love with each other. It was brilliant.

Thank you [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore for wanting to do this with me. You were amazing to co-write. <3 Thank you [livejournal.com profile] lumosed_quill, for beta reading this, you were so helpful and sweet, I can't thank you enough, and [livejournal.com profile] eidheann_writes, the only person who knew I was doing collab (though she didn't know which fic), thank you for listening me to go and on about it. (I was a nightmare, I gather. ^^) And of course, the lovely, amazing mods who made this possible.

Then the story posted and the comments, YOU GUYS. The comments were the best! You know how I love commenting, yeah? It turns out, receiving comments is every bit as amazing as I imagined. You have no idea how amazing it feels. Actually, you do. :D

I wanted to start replying them right there. Really, the wait to reply is so hard! And then replying was. . . God, I jumped around and felt this joy and pride and people liked. THANK YOU. ♥♥♥

Now I'll shut up and link to the fic. :D

Title: The Morning After
Team Members: [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore & [livejournal.com profile] capitu
Word Count: ~5500
Rating: R
Hogwarts Subject: Muggle Studies (because probably none of this would have happened if Draco had taken Muggle Studies in the first place).
Warnings: Cruelty to toasters?
Summary: This is what happens when you stick your wand in places where it really shouldn't go.
Authors Notes: Author 1: I blame Author 2 for everything. Seriously. She made me do it. I would like to state that Author 2 is a marvel and that this was an utter joy to be part of. Thank you also to our lovely beta who didn’t just shake her head and tell us to go away and write it properly.
Author 2: What! No way! I blame Author 1. She made me do it. Honest! And I can't thank her enough for it. She was incredibly supportive and encouraging and made this experience the best thing in the history of ever. She's the best. Our beta is also the best, who fixed all the things and didn't think this little story was crazy at all, which really, says a lot about the three of us. Thank you both for being so amazing.
And finally thank you to the mods for making this fest possible. <3
