This guy is not going to care. He's a techy person, he knows his way round the internet, he's seen ~stuff. He doesn't care about your stuff.

A while back I mislaid my phone and I thought I'd left it at a place in town I go a lot, everyone there knows me. I thought, OMG, they'll turn it on to see who it belongs to, and they'll totally see the notes for the fic I was writing on a memo on the homescreen. And it actually was about rimming. Oh lord.

Luckily the phone turned out to be in the bathroom instead, but I had a nasty moment there.

You did see a giant tongue. You should make an icon out of that, when you get back. So what did he say about time scales? Does he not know that this is IMPORTANT? WE NEED YOU!

There should be a service that if something happens to you someone comes and clean up your computer/web history and stuff, just to one can rest in peace lol

Okay, to make you feel better about having embarrassing stuff on your computer, I will tell you an embarrassing computer story of my own.

I have a Mac, and I was having issues with it being super slow last year, so while I was home I took it into the Apple store, and because my dad wasn't doing anything he offered to come along with me. So we're there, and the Apple guy asks me what I usually have running on it when it grinds to a halt, and I said, oh, just the internet and Word and my email. And he asks me to go ahead and open all that up so he can try to recreate the problem.

I'd forgotten that Word on my computer does this thing where if it's closed and then reopened, it automatically opens every document I've accessed since the last time I hit the "clear recent" button. (You see where this is going, don't you?) And since I have a tendency to skip through many different things as I write and also to not clear my history very often, when it finally loaded to my utter horror it was just a FLOOD OF PORN as doc after doc after doc after doc of smutty Harry/Draco fic popped open. In a panic, I alt+tab over to the next window.... the internet, which saved my tabs and HELLO LJ AND MORE PORN. And still panicking, I skipped to my email which is all COMMENTS ABOUT PORN I WROTE. And it's all happening in front of the poor Apple employee and my father and I have never wished so hard for the ground to open up and swallow me whole. We... don't talk about that day very often. My only consolation is that my father's never read Harry Potter or seen the movies so he didn't know that it was porn about children's book characters. XD

So, yes. I survived, you'll survive too. But really, I'm pretty sure tech support guys are not allowed to just go poking through folders at random, so I bet it'll be fine. And just think, I'm sure so many people have embarrassing stuff on their computers, I bet they're just used to it and won't think anything of it even if they do see something. ::squishes you::

The thing is, I have this folder on my desktop and there's no way he's not going to get curious. Lol like, really! But now I can think 'at least my dad isn't seeing this' lol

Don't worry! My husband is a nerd of the worst kind and he said, tech guys don't go into your private stuff because the data they need is in other folders and they really don't have the time to sniff through your files. They are like hunters, only focused on bringing down the deer (virus, bug, whatever). -- So, I hope that helped :-)! We'll miss you like crazy!!! (whatevers - tsk, so less you think of us, tsktsktsk!!!)

Don't worry about it. I'm a tech gal and we don't look at user's stuff. It would be very unprofessional to go snooping (if you did you wouldn't tell anyone!).

This is what I believe. All jokes aside, it's almost like going through your drawers if you're fixing the furniture. Well, something like that. I know most probably don't even care, one just can't help to feel self conscious about it though. :)

Missing you already! *Clings, steals and keeps* Computer problems are the worst, I feel your pain. If embarrassing story sharing helps, I had a tech guy who came and rescued all of the stuff I lost after a virus attack and he was like "Do these look like all of your pictures?"

Me: "Yes, it looks about...okay...stop scrolling"

He stopped on a pretty explicit piece of Snarry fanart but had the decency just to give me the invoice without any side-eyeing at all :P

Oh, there was also the time I took my laptop into the store to get it fixed and while the tech team were transferring data from my old laptop to my new one, my screen saver began playing on a good third of the screens in the shop. My screen saver was full of pictures of Pacey from Dawson's Creek....PACEY. DAWSON'S CREEK. That ruined my street cred like whoah :DDDD

Last time my computer had a meltdown, I had naked pics of myself on my pc because I was tracking my wieghtloss.

Oh, this is awful! We will be missing you and wishing for your speedy return. And like other people have said, I really don't think they'll go through your stuff. And even if they did, like, imagine, just imagine, the stuff they've found on other people's computers. I bet they wouldn't look twice or think anything of it. Either they don't see anything, which seems most likely, or they've seen EVERYTHING and nothing you've got going on is going to shock them.

(And if one good thing came out of it, the title of this post is brilliant. Made me snort in an entirely inappropriate moment. Serves me right for checking my phone, but really, this was too funny.)

I always say I'm going to leave my computer as clean and free of porn as possible for these very reasons... but come on! Who has that sort of time to sterilize it EVERY single time I get on it... and so I let it slide... and constantly freak that I'm going to be ~found out~. :((

But I'm sure everything will be fine and worse thing is that you'll just never go into that particular store every again. Or, you'll just have to figure out a way to get that guy stealthily fired. Or you know taken care of...
