I am so excited about the Mpreg Fest this year. I'm always excited about it, but this year I'm helping to mod it with

eidheann_writes &

kitty_fic.

I know a lot of you are already fans of Mpreg, but I also know there are just as many that aren't into it, and while I'd never pressure anyone into reading something they wouldn't enjoy, I'd like to take a moment and try and make you consider mpreg as something you could potentially enjoy.

The thing is, there's so much more to mpreg stories than the just pregnancy. It has so much potential for angst, fluff, drama and humour; for family oriented stories, for the unexpected and for lovely characterisations.

It's one of my favourite genres. And, you know, I never saw it coming either. I used think I'd never read Mpreg. I had this idea that friends don't let friends read mpreg, but then there was one story that completely changed my mind.

And that's why I honestly think that sometimes you just have to try something new and discover how much fun you can have playing in one of the most amazing sandboxes in fandom. Maybe you just have to find that story that will lure you in and help you discover a whole new way to have fun with this trope.

I mean, just think of the possibilities! Sometimes the boys don't know they can get pregnant, sometimes they are trying to get pregnant, sometimes they are scared of being pregnant, sometimes they are tricked into getting pregnant (by potions, spells, curses), sometimes they are confused about what's happening, sometimes they are already pregnant and it's an adventure to see them going through it, sometimes the baby is there and there are so much feelings, and of course, all the pregnancy idiosyncrasies to explore! So much fun to be had!

harrydracompreg community tags and check the Master Lists of previous fest. I have specific tags for both Harry and Draco in my community rec, or I can rec you something personally if you wish, based on your likes/dislikes.

Right, I must admit MPreg is not my thing, but on the other hand I have never read any fics with MPreg. Which is stupid, really, because I shouldn't say anything until I've read any. And, well, I'm curious, I like to be surprised, and your post makes me want to know more.

So, I'd very much like to know which story made you change your mind so that I can read it? (that is, if it's not too long, because I am so busy now that I'm back to work, and that I have my fics to write and being a mother of two and...) or if you have any other short ones that are really powerful? Something when they want to have a baby for example, when it's a project for them as a couple?

That'd be great! I don't know if it's going to make me change my mind, but at least, I will be able to say that I've tried! :)

I know exactly what you mean. You just have this idea of what Mpreg is without having read any, and it's a shame because there are amazing, classic, beautiful Mpreg stories out there.

The fic that changed and converted me was Some Kind Of Wonderful by

taradiane. It's long (ish) 34 K, but it's absolutely beautiful.

Another recs, hands down, are:

Delaney or at AO3 by

Where You Belong or at AO3 by

Labour of Love by

Harry and Draco Go to Kentucky Fried Chicken by

These are the first Mpregs I read after Some Kind Of Wonerful and they were the best introduction I could have had. I think you'll enjoy them.

Delaney is past mpreg, which is perfectly acceptable for an Mpreg fest ;)
Where You Belong and Labour of Love are about them as a couple facing a pregnancy.
Harry and Draco Go to Kentucky Fried Chicken is a lovely little fic with Draco already pregnant with a craving for friend chicken.

I really hope you enjoy them, and then come back for more and with your own plot bunnies. :D

Hey! I realise I never came back to you on this one!!!

So... I didn't have time to read all the fics you'd recced, but I will!

So far, I've read two.

- Some Kind of Wonderful: I really enjoyed it. I liked the plot very much, and how Draco and Harry's relationship evolved, it was a sweet read, so thank you! ♥
- If wishes were children: great story as well, I found it really beautiful and the love-making in Venice, god, that was amazing! I really enjoyed this wonderful story!

So thank you very much for these stories. I will read the others, I really want to! Thank you so much! ♥

Yes! Thank you for reminding me of this fic! It is amazing! It one also one of the first I read as well. One of the clasics mpreg stories out there.
